When I think about a facualty member or just plain someone who could mentor me, I find it very difficult being that I don't have a major. As of right now I am looking at two main majors, one in Aerospace Engineering and Kinesiology. Both of these fields have very respect people in them, but I couse to go with Dennis Muilenburg from the Aerospace department because Iowa State is known for its engineering department.
He is president of Global Services and Support and has worked for Boeing. I feel he would be a great help to me because not only is he smart, but also a leader in his field. Having a mentor in the Aerospace could be very benifical for many reason. Not only would you feel comfortable asking them questions about problems you having either on homework, but they could also take you under their wing and show you the ropes or even include you in any reasearch they are doing. This could propel you further into your career than anyting. Like they say its not what you know, its who you know. By knowing someone who is a leader in their field they could help you get a good job later on. Fornow i don't have a clear descion on my major, but it is a good idea to at least put yourself out there to get a head start.
